I was born in Torelló in August of 1963. When I was 6 my family moved to Valencia, the city in which I have grown, where my love for music was born, and where I actually live and perform. I started my music studies in the music school Centro el Micalet of Valencia, tutored by ENRIQUE PERONA, who increased my attraction to music when I was 14 and specially my fondness to guitar. My next teacher was JOSÉ PECHUÁN. With my dear «Pepe» I won technique and assurance and, moreover, I totally committed my dedication to Classic Guitar. I had and still have a wonderful academic and personal friendship with him. With him I ended the Grado Medio (middle level of music school). I studied the Grado Superior (upper level of guitar studies) with the Professor ANTONIO GALINDO, with whom I acquired the maturity and assurance to play in live performances. But I remember Antonio for his humanity and his respect and treat to the pupil. Whit him I obtained the highest qualifications when ended my guitar studies, which gave me the opportunity to obtain the Premio Fin de Carrera (end of career award). I refused, because I just have passed the Civil Service Extaminations to be Public Teacher, Specialist in Musical Education. And what is more important, at those times, my wife was pregnant of our second child. I have got three children: Javier, the older and first son; Ana, the second child and loved first daughter; and Silvia, my little daughter. I have never regretted of it. I would do it again.
When Antonio gave me the latest qualification of the Career, I remember the sentence that he told me: «The true race starts here». I did not understand the meaning that moment. But now I see that the sentence refers to the difficulty to enter in the World of Professional Concerts. There exists a lack of musical culture in this country, I have to knock on thousands of Councils’ doors (with no answer), I did study without any opportunity to perform at the stage, and, above all, I have to struggle against the discouragement of knowing whether if I will perform live again... or not. As a typical Spanish idiom states… I am still here! … and thanks God I still continue. From the beginning, and at the expenses of devoting less time to my family, I have had time to study, compose and interpreting. | ![]() |
